Squad leader / delivery manager – LexisNexis Risk Solutions – Amsterdam

LexisNexis Risk Solutions

The role in short
As a Squad Leader / Delivery Manager at Nextens, you are a vital cornerstone in developing the leading Nextens tax return software, Naslag content systems and several smart APIs that thousands of tax professionals in the Netherlands use daily. You will have plenty of opportunity to show off your qualities delivering software to a very diverse group of users, but you also know how to coach a team and inspire them to work as one.

Together with your team, you take product ideas and rough concepts to the next level, by bringing them to life in our product lines. After delivery, you ensure optimal health of the assets you’re responsible for, and you make sure you continuously improve on the development process. Your team looks at you for daily guidance, and you’re happy to lead them by example.

Next to the overview you have, you’re not afraid to get into the weeds: you work side-by-side with your team on urgent production issues, and you’re in the lead when we release our code to production after office-hours.

You will have responsibilities in three areas:

Product Development

Day-to-day team management

Technology Strategy

In this role, you report to the Sr. Director of Technology, and you take a seat in the Technical Leadership Team (TLT) of Nextens – a group of highly skilled professionals that lead the Technology department of Nextens everyday.

Who are you?

You are an IT expert with a proven track record in the industry. You like a challenge, and you get excited if you can work with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

You have a background in Software Engineering, and it’s a huge plus if you’ve been a software engineer or QA before you got into a leadership role

You have at least 3-5 years of experience leading or coaching a team, either in the role of Dev Lead, Squad Lead or Scrum Master (for multiple teams)

You know how to deliver a product to a widely varying group of customers with differing needs

Security is in your DNA, and you know how to help a team build secure, compliant software

You’ve successfully delivered data-backed services and APIs

If you’re familiar with the Site Reliability Engineering concepts, that’s a plus!

You speak Dutch and English fluently and you feel comfortable to communicate with customers and the tax authorities

What will you do?

You own the backlog for the next sprint: together with the Product Manager, you plan and orchestrate execution of the work in a sprint, by making sure that the highest priority user stories have been fully refined and are ready to be picked up.

Strive for a high-quality technical and top functional product delivery that brings value to the market. You make sure the team adheres to the Technology strategy and takes the time to do things right.

Together with the Agile Coach, signal and remove impediments that are blocking the team. Help act on the action items created by the team during sprints and team sessions.

You decide with the others in the Technical Leadership team, what the future looks like, and what the strategy of the Technology team looks like.

Who are we?

Together with partners in the industry, we give insights in tax pressure and file tax returns for almost 600.000 companies and individuals. We take pride in the fact that our code sits amongst the top performers in the industry, and we want to find a person for this role that is as motivated as we are to deliver high-quality code and features.

Our future lies in data: we’re working hard to create data products that help our customers take that next step in data integration, data enrichment, and insights.

Within RELX, Nextens is part of the LexisNexis Risk Solutions group portfolio, where we partner with other organizations around data, including ICIS, Cirium, XpertHR, ProAgrica and EG. What do we offer?

A good salary!

Nextens offers you the perks of working for a medium-sized company, while having the opportunities within RELX to grow faster than we would as a standalone company.

You’ll be directly responsible for a product that is used by many finance and tax professionals in the Netherlands, giving you a unique opportunity in the market.

A great and enthusiastic team, where members say that there’s a great work/life balance, equal opportunities to succeed, and that they feel free to speak their minds.

Great team outings, nice lunches at the company restaurant, and vrijmibo’s with nice colleagues!
