The Rockstart AgriFood fund is one of the world’s most active early-stage investors within FoodTech and AgTech. We invest in technologies and new business models that improve our food supply system from soil and ocean to gut. Our investments start at pre-seed and we co-invest up to Series B.
As Investment Manager you will have the opportunity to lead the whole process, from origination, qualification and closing of investments. You will lead a small task force and work with the Managing Partner. Ecosystem knowledge and personal connections will be important as you build close relations with multiple stakeholders, for example the Investment Committee, syndication partners, founders and mentors. Your skills as a business model engineer/designer/planner will allow you to run analysis on early stage startups, finding the best AgriFood tech startups for selection and for the portfolio of investments. You will work alongside our experienced international team to increase Rockstart’s investments portfolio value, in alignment with company strategy and Rockstart’s purpose and mission. Key Responsibilities:

Work alongside the AgriFood Partners and Rockstart team in the sourcing and development of new investment opportunities in AgriFood ventures.

Researching companies and trends, specifically AgriFood related, to shape and refine fund investment strategy.

Empowering a team of analysts and overseeing deal pipeline processes and tools.

Collecting, analyzing and categorizing the portfolio based on qualitative and quantitative data to monitor performance with periodic reporting.

Ensuring timely and compliant deal execution and reporting.

Preparing and recommending capital allocation with the AgriFood Partners.

Preparing and drafting investment recommendations and documentation for the Investment Committee.

Ensuring investments are made in line with Rockstart’s criteria for successful follow-on investments.

Building networks and relationships throughout the venture capital ecosystem.
You have a passion for working with mission driven founders and early stage startups. You like to connect with people, build trusting relationships across stakeholder groups and love to work in a team. As a person you are dedicated and take pride in owning processes and tasks. You gain energy from having focussed time when working from home, balanced with regular office days to reconnect with colleagues.
You have an open style of communication and are able to distill large volumes of information into clear and concise analysis and recommendations.
Your exceptional analytical skills combined with proven financial acumen allow you to shift focus between several topics without compromising on quality or efficiency. You enjoy deal making, you are able to identify metrics that matter for the business amongst large quantities of data to be able to draw high level insight.
You are humble and bring a positive attitude, open to learning and coaching with a solution orientated approach. You excel at driving workflows and know how to involve and collaborate with your team members.
Your skills and experience:

5+ years of relevant experience working with VC (or related) transactions

Well-developed social and interpersonal skills, strong relationship management skills.

Ability to sell.

Experience in financial advisory, business development, strategy consulting or similar.

Passion for early stage startups, with a desire to excel in the fields of venture capital and entrepreneurship.

Data-driven and financially literate, with a strong analytical mindset. Excellent attention to detail combined with an ability to step back and see the patterns in and implications of data and analysis.

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English.

A masters in business, finance or economics. A specialization in strategy is a bonus.

Where material requirements (e.g. education) are not present, we also accept stellar entrepreneurial experience as a proxy as long as the experience equates to the same skills.
